Is It Possible to Eat Healthy During the Holidays?

By Lifestyle No Comments

The winter is coming and so are the holidays! We have survived Thanksgiving and Halloween, but what about Christmas and New Year? To make things harder, there is always someone’s birthday in the middle of the holiday tussle. Is it even possible to eat healthy at this time of the year? Last year we covered the topic of Guilty Pleasures During Holidays, as well as Beating the Holiday Blues.

This year, the main question is – how to keep your diet as healthy as possible while still enjoying sweet and juicy holiday meals? We have done some research instead of you and we found out interesting things. In fact, it is possible to eat healthy during the holidays! We provide you with some tips that can help you survive this time of the year.

Limit Indulging

All the family gatherings are always accompanied by BIG lunch. There are appetizers, sweets, alcohol, and a lot of meat and not-so-healthy prepared vegetables. Naturally, you want to try a little bit of everything, and, by the time the main meal is at the table, you are already bloated and overeaten.

Honestly, we have all been there. But there is a way to eat healthy and avoid this. The solution is not so complicated and it says: limit your portions!

That is perhaps the easiest and the most obvious solution, but also the hardest. The best way to restrict your portions is to decide how much you will eat in advance. After that, the only thing you should do is stop yourself from eating more than that. It sounds simple, don’t you think?

Be Active

Every person alive knows that being active is the key to healthy living. Nevertheless, it is difficult to put theory into practice, as we all can admit.

However, being active can do a lot for your overall health plus it can help you with the potential weight gain during the holiday season. You don’t have to go to the gym to keep yourself dynamic. Workout at home, walking with your family and things like that can do a lot to improve your weight and mood also. Even minimal exercise will lessen your cravings for unhealthy food.

Your workout doesn’t have to be long or extremely intense. It is more important that you exercise regularly. Even a 15-minute exercise can make a difference. If we are being honest, we all have so much time.

Don’t Stress Too Much

Stress is one of the main factors of overeating. When we are nervous or anxious, we tend to indulge in unhealthy habits like grabbing a snack every now and then.

The healthier way to deal with stress is to, first of all, limit our stress income. Exclude all the negativity in your life, as much as you possibly can.

Second of all, it is desirable to find a way to release the stress that we will still absorb. No matter how hard you tried, life is full of surprises and you cannot avoid being stressed out completely.

But, be aware that you won’t get rid of the stress if you eat!  In fact, you will just gain weight and then stress over that all over again! The better option is to find an activity that will be interesting to you and keep your mind occupied and relaxed.

Maybe playing our games can help you with that. You can read about the positive influence gambling can have on your health on our blog also!

We hope that these pieces of advice will help you deal with the upcoming holiday season! Christmas Magic is in the air!

The Most Common Lucky Objects

By Lifestyle 2 Comments

There is no man on the Earth that didn’t think about luck at least once in a life. Usually, it happens when we at some life crises, but it wouldn’t be always like that.  In those cases, we think of everything that should bring us luck, and some people believe in some lucky animals. Others like to read quotes about luck as a motivation or to take some lucky objects everywhere and every time. These are some of the most common lucky objects people believe that bring them luck.

Horseshoe

A horseshoe, open end up, on a door is believed to be a protective talisman in many cultures. It symbolizes good luck, power over evil, good fortune, and fertility. Horseshoe is associated with a horse’s strength and dependability. Greeks believe that it symbolized the crescent moon, which is the symbol of fertility.

Dreamcatcher

This is the most common lucky symbol in Native American culture and it is considered good luck because it catches the negative images from dreams. This is based on the Legend of Nokomis, a story about one grandmother named Nakomis, her grandson, and spider. Each day, Nakomis watched the spider working on his web. One day grandson wants to kill him, but grandmother didn’t let him do that. In return for saving his life, the spider gave her a present. It was the special web he made for her. Only good dreams will go through the small hole, which means that only good dreams will be remembered and bad will become entangled in the web.

Coin

Probably, everyone knows there is a saying: “See a penny, pick it up and all day long you’ll have a good luck. Leave it there and you’ll despair.” Coins are lucky in many ways. Some people believe that if the coin is face down it’s best to leave it on the ground. Also, coins that are bent or have holes in them are luckiest of all.

If you want to try your luck, the best way is to play games at Casino Brango.

Sex Scenes Are Trending on Netflix, So What?

By Lifestyle No Comments

We’ve seen it all. Yet again, when sex scenes are trending it draws our attention. Recently, I came across several articles dealing with the phenomenon of the globally popular Netflix movie “365 Days”. All of them included Twitter reactions to the movie, mostly made by female audience. Some were politically correct, others slamming the main premise of this movie. However, there is more to it than it meets the eye. So, let’s begin.

What the Movie Is About

“365 Days” is an Italian – Polish co-production that quickly positioned itself on the first place among the popular Netflix movies worldwide. Some say that it is a European version of “50 Shades of Grey”. However, the sex scenes are more explicit.

This is a story about a young woman who is dissatisfied with her life, regardless of her successful career and obviously well-off life in Poland. She is in a lousy relationship and yearns for more excitement. Suddenly, she gets kidnapped by a mafia boss, while on a vacation in Sicily. Surprisingly, the man who abducted her put her up in his castle and promised not to touch her until she fell in love with him. And he gave her a year to do so. Yes, the plot is so dry.

What Raises Eyebrows Here?

The amazingly handsome Michele Morrone plays the role of don Massimo Torricelli.  Throughout the movie, he displays the behavior of a rough and brutal man. As you may have guessed, he was forced to take over the family business. Sounds familiar? So, what I suppose the director wanted to tell us here is that the main character is basically misunderstood and quite able to love wholeheartedly.

  • There goes the first stereotype. Bad guys are actually capable of great acts of love. Although this may be true in some cases, it dangerously masks the reality of the world we live in and sends the wrong message.

The female character Laura Biel is played by Anna Maria Sieklucka. Two main characters play this game of cat and mouse, constantly seducing one another until they surrender completely. NY Post published an article about how this movie was slammed for glorifying the Stockholm syndrome. I do not argue that this could be one of the ways to interpret the plot. However, the syndrome is very rare and not easy to determine. Moreover, I do not think the creators of this film were aiming to raise the questions of this kind –  which brings us to another dangerous stereotype.

  • If not communicating psychological aspects of the depicted situation, then what is this movie all about? Passion and sex, I would say. Apparently, we need it more in our lives. The number 1 ranking of the movie “365 Days” says so. Are we all so shallow?

What Intrigues Us Here?

The fact that this movie is so popular tells us that many people were curious to watch it. They may have enjoyed it or felt disgusted. Either way, the topic intrigued them enough to click on the play button. Hey, I did it for pure amusement and out of curiosity. Was I naively expecting a great love story? Maybe. How about the mysterious turn of events? Certainly. Did the movie provide it? No.

Now, honestly when I watched the movie I expected more than steamy sex scenes. Maybe it is because my female brain is desperately trying to connect sex with romanticism. However, I felt the story is lacking deeper depiction of the main characters’ psyche.

What all movies of this kind are deprived of is the psychological aspect of the connection between two people. And when we deal with sex only, it makes things easier. The movie is easy-going, not difficult to understand. Above all, majority of the audience will certainly talk about it, creating hype – as if we haven’t seen all the nudity already many times before. Eventually, the piece will become so popular that will launch the entire crew into stardom, earning heaps of money. Mission accomplished.

Should You Watch It?

Well, this is entirely up to you. There are elements of drama. There are also moments that resemble the “Godfather” scenes and plots. The movie features some great soundtrack, and I discovered that the main actor is actually a pretty good singer as well.

On the other hand, if you are looking for more meaningful drama about truly connecting with someone and exploring sex and love, I hear that BBC’s “Normal People”, done in co-operation with Hulu is a completely different story. Maybe sometimes it is good to step away from stereotypes.

And while doing so, do not forget that Casino Brango is a bet safe and crypto accepted place. Above all, we are available 24/7, even during your sleepless nights. Take care!

Ways to Make Your Day Sunnier

By Lifestyle No Comments

We are all anxiously looking forward to sunny days and spring bursting all around us. People usually feel much better, healthier and happier once the sun wakes them up, instead of alarm clock. However, not every day is a fun day. Unless you live on an island somewhere in the south. For us, less lucky ones, expectations of spring encompass the impatience, maybe even anxiety and mood swings. The time when nature is being reborn calls for certain inner reconsideration of our choices and decisions. This is how we cope with it.

It Is OK to Feel Bad Sometimes

State of mind is predefined by our inner strength, as much as by outside influence. In spring especially, we may find ourselves in a situation to feel exhausted and sad. Sometimes we even blame ourselves for feeling down, or for acts previously done. It is important to remember that self-attacking will do you no good. Many professionals agree that the change starts from within. Feeling bad is a natural reaction and a step that should not be skipped in this process of redefining our path.

Write About It or Talk About It

No one is all alone in this world. Think of a person close to you or a group which shares your interests and do not be afraid to confide in someone. There is always a person willing to listen. Additionally, your family would most likely love to know what the hell is going on. Even if it is just for a moment, letting your frustrations find their way out is of outmost importance. In case you are not the kind of person who is very open, outgoing and makes bonds easily, writing could be the winning solution. Once you put your thoughts on paper or screen, they may seem completely different to you. Even smaller and of less importance. Try it out.

Put Yourself Out There

It may be hard, but put effort into going out for a walk, a night out with friends, running, site seeing, whatever. After you cried your eyes out, or spent days in solitude, give the social atmosphere a chance. This can be a small, but very important step in healing and redefining your future self. Everyone hurts, and you are no different. Your dark thoughts, although true and important to you, do not make you less human, less-happier or more of a coward than anyone else in a room. The advantage of springtime is the fact that you can spend more time in open spaces and organize activities outdoors. Barbeque is always a good idea, if you are not into more demanding activities such as swimming, basketball, running, etc.

Do Not Give in and Indulge Yourself

It is an ancient wisdom. And the quality of wisdom is always in its simplicity. Do not give in. Repeat it as a mantra. Whatever you do, take control over insecurities. And think of the activities that make you feel comfortable and happy. Whether it is playing your favorite game, or watching your favorite movie, or preparing a meal for your friends, or going out for a run or a walk, or reading, or taking a massage, or a spa treatment, or turning up the music and dancing your sorrow away – interestingly, your brain will adjust to the stimuli and start releasing hormones of happiness. Never underestimate the power of self-imposed positive attitude.

The Happiest Country to Live in 2019

By Lifestyle No Comments

Once again and for the 2nd year in a row, Finland, with a population of 5.5. million has topped all other countries in the world and was pronounced the happiest country to live in 2019, taking into consideration the stability, safety, and governance. The research was conducted by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network among 156 countries.

In this research, apart from the above stated factors, the focus was also on income, freedom, trust, health, life expectancy and more. The second and third place was taken by Denmark and Norway. Scandinavian countries in general have reported low corruption and high social progress. Therefore, the way people perceive their police, for example, is as the most trusted institution, while their banks are marked as the most reliable. Researchers have explained that the key to the Finish happiness is in the way they look at their collective wellbeing. Finland has some of the highest taxes in the world, while its GDP per capita is lower than in their neighboring countries and way lower than in the US. However, the Finns believe that the taxes they pay are actually an investment that eventually converts into wealth. And for them, wealth is perceived as the high quality of life. By investing in free healthcare and education, they are into long-term project of building healthy, educated and diverse society.

The research relies heavily on self-reported wellbeing. Since we have seen how Scandinavians see their societies, we cannot help but ask: how do Americans see their country?

The latest reports show that the US which ranked at position 19, as the largest economy, is struggling with obesity, substance abuse and depression. The US has always expressed tendencies toward the top of the list. However, a slight decline is visible, although the US still has one of the highest GDPs per capita. So, what makes Americans unhappy?

According to Jeffrey Sachs, director of Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University in New York, the main reasons for slipping to the 19th position are decreased trust in the government and society in general, as well as the obvious decline of health conditions. Reportedly, America is facing an increase in addictive behavior, junk food consumption being at the top of the list. Unhealthy eating habits are followed by extensive shopping expenses, depression and the abuse of opioid drugs.

What this research has showed us is that the overall economy indicators are not always corresponding to the prevailing sentiment in one society, and they do not necessarily corelate with an individuals quality of life. The predictions are that some of the non-material factors would prevail in the future when self-reports on wellbeing are concerned. People tend to put the following in their focus: social support, freedom, fairness.
